Chapter 38 – Mama Bears…
POV:  Emily
Word count:  2392

October 11, 2013

Zac was still passed out when Max got up at 7. I sat up but didn’t get out of the bed.

“Did he sleep ok?”

“Yeah, he’s still out cold at the moment.”

He sat down beside me. “So, I know you didn’t tell me everything at the hospital. Zac’s not a weak man by no means, it took effort for me to hold him down in November and I know I scared him but really he also knew that with you and Casey there I wouldn’t hurt him. I can fully understand how the threat to Alexander’s life would make him think more, but I really don’t think it would render him completely helpless and to the point of allowing or not fighting back.”

“He did fight until he skyped the man watching us.”

He tilted his head and his look was stern. “Either you provide answers or I will tell Maddi to stay her ass at home.”

I glanced back at Zac and then to Max and told him everything including what happen in LA.

“Did he tell his brothers?”

“No. He told me and honestly Max I don’t think he would have if Ryan hadn’t been mad at me for kicking him off. Its obvious Ryan told me and not Ian. Ian was using it as a guide to get him to do what he wants. I would cancel with Maddi myself but Ian doesn’t want anyone but Zac and the most powerful thing he’ll use is Alexander and I.”

He sat there. “I really want to say that Ian has gotten what he wants and he’ll be done but I don’t think you believe that.”

“No. The complications is David and Adam, I think Ian is the man that they had planned to pick him up. I don’t know much about this man at all.”

“It took you a while to fall asleep, any reason why?”

I smiled at him. “You don’t want to know, but can you sit here with him for like fifteen? I need to go get something from the bus and I need to get Alexander.”

“Sure. I don’t have to be there until ten. Want me to order some room service?”

“Yeah.”

I got up and after getting dressed I ran down to the bus, a hidden compartment in my bunk that only Zac knew about held a hand gun. As much as I hated carrying it or having it where Alexander could possibly see it we needed it now in case he came back. I also made a call.

“Bright and early! What’s up?” Craig asked.

“I can’t tell you much but I need you to do me a big favor.”

“I’m not going to like this, but ok.”

“I want you to double the protection at our house. Increase the gate codes to eight numbers, change them all, don’t send them to me. We will come to you first. I need you to check every single fucking room for anything that you and Colton didn’t install.”

“Emily…”

“I will explain when we get home, but I need to know it’ll be a very secure place. Check the fence for breaks and make sure no one can get on that property.”

He was quite. “What happen?”

“We’re being followed again, this time the person wants Zac.”

“How bad?”

I paused and looked at the gun in my hand. “He threatened Zac, told him he was going to have someone kill Alexander in front of me. I’m not going to let that happen, neither of us can handle that loss. I just want to be sure that home is going to be safe when we arrive.”

“Do I need to warn your brothers?”

“No, they’ll freak the fuck out and you know it. Just make sure the cameras are there and on, I need remote access and alerts, I’m changing the bus settings in a few moments.”

“I don’t like that you are not giving me much to go on, but consider it done. I’ll do a full sweep and just tell Christopher that the alarm coded and we’re just making sure it’s legit.”

“Thank you. Let me know when it’s done.”

I hung-up and secured the gun to my side, covered it with my shirt and made sure my permit was accessible, I then got Alexander’s lunch and dinner from the fridge and headed inside. I stopped by their room first and got him. He was just waking up, so I didn’t change him or anything just took him back to the room. Zac was still asleep and Max was eating. Alexander crawled across the bed to Zac and laid back down against him, moments later he was back asleep.

“I tell you he’s the exact opposite of Riley; she is totally a mama’s baby.”

“Not him, he’s Zac’s all the way.”

I put the gun in the drawer and Max looked at me. “You are going to carry that around?”

“Yes. Its fall now and cooler up here. I can wear a light jacket and conceal it. I have my permit too.”

He smiled. “I feel sorry for this Ian guy.”

“Why?”

He smiled widely and giggled. “Because what he did was tamper with Mama Bear, he messed with your family and he pissed off the mama. I feel sorry for him.”

I smiled and pulled a plate to me. “I like that analogy.”

We ate quietly and he left about 9:30, Alexander was just waking up and so was Zac kind of. I was ready with the dry diaper and change of clothes and he was ready to nurse as well. Zac groaned from the bed and I was sure what he thought was painful yesterday, was even worse today.

“Do I really have to move?”

“Not unless you need to go to the bathroom.”

Another groan and he finally moved, yelped when he sat up. Alexander jumped some but didn’t break his latch.

“When did they bring him to us?”

“I stopped and got him at like 8:15. He came in and curled up beside you.”

He smiled some but it was clear he was still hurting. He went to the bathroom and then took his medications, even though it pretty much meant he was going to sleep most of the day. He did shower after eating and put on clean pajamas. He spent time with Alexander before the medication just made it hard and he lay down. Alexander sat right there and played with some of his toys, he ate lunch and nursed about 1, little bit later than normal and he played a little bit longer, but after a diaper change he laid down beside Zac, I read from one of the children’s books and he drifted off. I laid down and napped as well, but about 3 it was Zac’s phone beeping that woke me up. I looked at the message.

You changed rooms, smart move. Come to room 512. I am sure you can find some excuse.

I looked at Zac who was still asleep and Alexander who was laying up against him asleep. I reached over and brushed some of the blonde curls away from Alexander’s face, repeated it with Zac’s hair. I then looked at the message. It was obvious what he wanted him for. I eased up off the bed and out of the room, standing just in the hallway I used Zac’s phone to call the number.

“My, I didn’t expect you to call me Zachary.”

“Heh, this isn’t Zachary.”

“Ahh, Emily. It’s nice to speak to you again.”

Over the phone he sounded very familiar but I couldn’t quite place him yet.

“This will be anything but nice Ian. I give you credit on your methods and your abilities to isolate him and therefore cause problems. I really thought he was stepping out with some man, props for that. It’s clear you did your research.”

“Quite a bit, enough to know that David Daniels was the man who raised you.”

I laughed. “Mention his name all you want Ian, he’s in jail and paralyzed. He doesn’t scare me.”

“It’s weird that he claims you did that, police agree Adam shot him and then himself.”

I didn’t contradict his assumption of that being the real story; he didn’t know them well enough to assume that their relationship was stronger than that and therefore it wouldn’t have happened that way.

“Less for me to deal with. Speaking of, I don’t like that you keep threatening to kill my son. Believe me Ian; you really don’t want to piss me off. I’ve learned a lot over the years and dealing with stalkers like you is one of them. You’ve said you wanted Zac, what exactly do you mean?”

He was quite for several moments and I smiled some, he wasn’t use to people standing up to him like that.

“What I want is for him to come to the room.”

“Sorry, Zac’s not going anywhere without me and he’s not going anywhere where you are. Not after what you did yesterday.”

“It’s not in his best interest for you to piss me off. He’s already in enough pain Emily, do you really think he wants another punishment because you got mouthy with me?”

“It’s not in your best interest to piss me off, but you did. You know I was fine with pictures, the sexting messages, and the constant contact. You crossed a line in LA when you forced him to give you a blowjob in a filthy fucking alley. However, breaking into our room and raping him was the last straw. As his wife I have the right to anything that belongs to him. So, you are hereby cut off from him. I will not allow you to bring him any farther down than he is. No more e-mail, no more calls, no more text messages, he won’t be allowed to see anything from you. You will not hurt him anymore. My advice would be you’ve gotten away with raping him leave it be Ian. He’s no longer allowed to reply to you and he will not see any more of your messages.”

The line was quiet, but he was still there I could hear the rapid breathing on his end, it was then that I remembered where I’d heard him from. He’d called about the photos to his e-mail and he’d interviewed for a job driving the bus.

“You’ve made a mistake Emily.”

“No, I’m not making a mistake. You did. You can count on one thing, you won’t get close anymore.”

I then hung-up and went back to the room, it would mean coordinating better and I needed to determine if another crew member was helping him. Ryan obviously was which was bad enough considering he’d also hurt Alexander in the process. I sat on the bed and thought about what had to be done to make sure they were both kept safe. Alexander was up first, ready to play and I let him lose in the room with his toys, Zac woke up about 4 just laid there. I leaned over and kissed his forehead.

“Feel better?”

“Eh, not as tired but still feel so sleepy and groggy.”

“Maybe try to sit up some?”

“How did you deal with it?”

I kissed his forehead again. “I did a lot of sitting in your lap and when I could I sat on anything soft.”

“Where did Max go?”

“He had a longer day; he probably went to his room after wards.”

“How bad is it? He only used his hand and a belt, yet you’ve used drumsticks and Casey used a belt once. The paddles…I don’t understand how this is so much worse.”

I moved some of the hair away from his face. “For starters his entire purpose was to hurt you. It’s nothing like what Casey and I have done with you, that’s play. Yes, we want it to hurt to some degree but we don’t want to leave marks that last for weeks. He wanted you to feel it even when he wasn’t there.”

“Good job of that.”

I leaned down and kissed him a few times. “Just means I’ll have to try harder to make you forget about it.”

He blushed and I finally got up and moved around. I ordered room service for dinner too, kept us in the room and safely away from everyone. He chose to feed Alexander and he even gave him mashed up broccoli which he didn’t like. He didn’t nurse until late and despite the fact there was a baby bed here, Zac laid down with him and they were both asleep by 9:30. Unfortunately we did have a 4 am bus call, because Milwaukee was just under 5 and half hours away and we had a show there. I lay down but set the alarm and I left Zac and Alexander asleep when I got up, I went ahead and packed everything and made sure we had our things. I called Max and made sure he was ready too, which he was. He came down to help us and by 4 am everyone was awake, except Alexander.

“When did you get the gun?” Zac asked.

“Yesterday morning.”

He frowned but when it was time to go he carefully picked Alexander up and carried him to the bus. Alexander didn’t wake up and once comfortable he was back asleep. Zac hoped into mine which was fine and I laid down there with him.

“I figured you’d take mine.”

“I’m not leaving you alone not for a few days anyway.”

He smiled a bit and laid down, he was back asleep pretty quickly. Max was also on a bottom bunk, because he wasn’t use to riding and sleeping we didn’t want him to roll out of a bunk. I got a text from Maddi sometime after we went to sleep; she was expecting to arrive at 9 am. Her arrangements with Max was she would lie down and sleep a while, he would watch Riley. That way she could be rested for the show and the drive to the next city.

After laying down it seemed liked time flew and we were there and Maddi and Riley were there!
