Chapter 107 – Beachside Conversations
POV:  Emily
Word count: 4092

January 8, 2015

Christmas and New Years had been a blast, having everyone around was nice and the amount of new toys that Alexander and Isabella had was staggering and Isabella now had cute little dresses to wear. Eliza had considered the bed but ultimately she chose toys and we agreed there was no need since his crib converted and it was already set for the toddler bed. That however meant closing the doors up-stairs and adding locks so he couldn’t get into the music room where paint was or the other two bedrooms, it also meant another baby gate was added to the stairs. Yet, he seemed OK to wake up and just chill in either room or climb into bed with us and lay there.

Taylor hosted New Years and threw one hell of a party, it was awesome to just party and have fun for once. We’d then jumped into work and here we are in Jamaica again, this time Eliza was with us. She and I were taking today to just chill out, the boys had shows and plans but we didn’t, so we were at the beach. Alexander was sitting in front of me playing in the sand and Isabella was sitting in my lap, playing with a toy that made noise.

“Are you not worried about fans seeing them?”

“We’re on a private beach, the fans can’t come over here. It’s the nice thing about here, they can play without prying eyes.”

“Nice, how come Taylor and Isaac didn’t bring their kids? I know Natalie is here and so is Nikki.”

“They were going to but Natalie is pretty much alone here so having four kids all the time is just hard for her, Nikki’s parents took their two, wanting to spend extra time with them. We obviously brought ours because we fear Glen.”

“Yeah, it’s hard to be this far away and not know what he’s doing. But, I did hear from my friend about him..”

“Did he find anything?”

I was hoping for something, anything that would ease my mind on his intentions. Something that would just say I was over reacting to him and the messages. Yet, based on the way she looked it was probably not going to help me.

“Are you sure you want to know Emily? You’re on vacation in a lovely place.”

“But, I have to go home Eliza. I need to know even if I don’t want to know.”

“How much about him do you know?”

“I know he’s Adam’s brother, they have the same parents and that when they divorced Glen came here. I know there father and step-mother have died, him about 8 years ago and her around 4. Agent Stewart also said that he visited Adam until he went to jail. Beyond that my first encounter with Glen he was flirty and tried to get me to believe Zac would cheating on me. That’s all I know about him.”

“They didn’t know anything else about him?”

“If they did know more, they never told me.”

“I saw his application and resume that he provided you. His name and birthday are legit, the rest of it was fake. The social was faked which is why his background came back clean to you. The resume was a complete lie, nothing on the resume was real. Most of the companies had never seen him.”

“Well, when we learned about Zane and how his name and everything was faked, I figured that Glen’s was also. Did your friend actually get a real background on Glen?”

“Yes. I’m asking again, are you sure you want to know? You are on vacation and I can wait until we’re back in Tulsa.”

I actually considered that question because obviously whatever her friend found was not going to be good. Yet, I had two children to think about as well as a husband. If the information gave me insight into how he was then it could help me better deal with the messages, e-mails and packages. Yet, it could also have the opposite effect and make me more paranoid and could totally drive Zac into the paranoid range.

“As much as I probably should wait, it is clear that Glen knows a lot about me, he’s mentioned things that prove that. I know very little about him and I need to know because he’s after me and he wants to hurt my family.”

She sighed and shifted in the chair, could see her checking on Alexander who hadn’t moved from his spot, she then looked at me.

“He has very little work history. But, financially he has done well, his tax returns say that he is a realtor and that would completely explain how they could move quickly. Glen would know all the available locations in and around Tulsa and would know when there empty.”

“It would explain how Ian has so many houses when the FBI told me he was in debt over his eyeballs.”

“It does explain it, however the address on the returns was the house he had you at, which we have seized already. It is unlikely that all of his money came from selling houses. He was methodical and he kept business records for mileage, expenses, even revenue. But, his bank accounts exceed what he could have made in real estate. He would also have needed two or more people to help, he’d need a mortgage agent and someone to process the titles.”

“Which he could easily obtain by training his own people or having Ian do it. Zac said there were about four or five guys there. We don’t know what role Glen really played really. I mean damn I thought Adam was the ringleader then but it was actually David.”

“Well, some of the houses they found were titled in Logan’s name, so there thinking Glen knows of, owns, or has access to quite a few.”

“Which is kind of scary to think about or consider because he could be anywhere.”

“I asked him to do a cursory check of your area. The houses on your street and to make sure the owners are the actual people that live there.
Your neighbors did in fact move and sold their house to a person they described as Glen who handled it.”

“How long was he there? Alexander! Come back to me.”

“I was wondering if you saw him move.”

He stopped and looked back and I didn’t have to do more than wave my hand and he turned and came back, positioning himself in the sand a few feet from my feet.

“and.”  He said. His voice curious and wondering.

“Sand, yes. It’s sand.”

He smiled and continued to pour sand into the buckets and out of them. Isabella had laid herself down and fallen asleep using my leg as her personal pillow.

“Are you uncomfortable?”

“My leg is numb, but I’m not moving. Don’t distract me from the question Eliza. How long did Ian have access to that house?”

“Glen purchased the house in April, 2011. It was not occupied until October 2011.”

“Are you serious?”

“Yes. Glen has owned the house since 2011.”

“Ok…what else?”

“Their mother is alive, obviously you know that. Her current husband is clean and so is she, shocking considering how her children turned out.
There are no other siblings from either parent. Their father died in March of 2007, step-mother was August of 2011.”

“Was their death due to natural causes?”

“Yes. But a background on him showed several charges and included a murder charge that was dismissed because a witness died. Deep web shows that he and David often talked a lot, they did the same kind of work Emily.”

“David knew their father? Did the same kinds of things?”

“Yes. Their father just died before anyone could prove it. He traced Glen back and he basically took over dad’s operations, he became a realtor when he was a teenager. He was making great money by the time he was 21.”

“So, their father and David were both evil assholes?”

“Yes. But, it seems he was worse than David Emily. There more careful that David ever thought to be. There was suspicion that David was doing wrong but no proof, there never was suspicion on their father or Glen for that matter.”

“Ok, so what about Glen specifically? His father is no concern really, he is dead. He knew about me didn’t he?”

“He left behind a journal at the house you were at, very old one that was found in a closet. We know it’s his because he has pictures of Adam and him. Adam told him about you when he was thirteen, he said he came for a visit and he found a picture of you and asked. Adam told him that when you were 16 David was going to sign and you two were going to be together. Adam was convinced that you were his girlfriend.”

“I was like 6…”

“Yeah. Adam was one sick dude when it came to what turned him on, but seriously you were it. He really loved you.”

“I knew that.”

“He talked to Adam all through jail and Glen wrote in these journals that your all he talked about. When you said no to the wedding it upset Glen, he said Adam actually cried because you said no and then left. Glen blames you for the way Adam hated women, hated that he was so obsessed with you that he didn’t want to be with anyone else.”

Alexander got up and moved beside me, clearly still not an Eliza fan, but his cheeks were more pink that usual. He sat down to play with some of the toys.

“So, Glen has known about me all along basically.”

“He has known about you. Although, I don’t think he knew Ian was going to kill Adam when he got there.”

I considered that for a moment, thinking about how Adam was and how Glen seemed to be. But, Alexander said unch and Isabella was also waking up some too.

“Let’s have lunch and continue inside, out of the sun. Alexander is getting a bit pink and I don’t want either of them to sunburn.”

We got the thing’s we’d brought and headed inside where we had lunch and I fed Isabella. She was showing some interest in solid’s now, but not much. I made sure she ate well and we agreed when we got home we were going to try some solids, she was starting to sit on her own now too. Once the four of us had lunch I laid them down for naps, Isabella was fine to nap it was her normal time now, Alexander fought some but eventually fell asleep.

I sat down beside her. “Glen knew I was there with Adam, he may not have known why Zac was there but he knew I was. Adam had to have sent him the pictures or videos or whatever he has. It’s the only way Glen could have them.”

“There isn’t much in his background that screams sociopath.”

“The e-mails and messages tell me different. I mean even the package tells me differently.”

“I understand Emily, but just he’s apparently very careful.”

The door opened and Zac came in, but he was quite as he came in.

“You knew it was nap time didn’t you?” I asked.

“I did, I was hoping to sneak in and grab a clean shirt while he was asleep.”

I noticed them there was evident staining of his shirt on the front, looked like coffee.

“What happen?”

“Taylor. He moved and his coffee decided my shirt was better to be on than to be in his tummy.”

He got a shirt and quickly changed, I noted that as he changed shirts Eliza looked away, she didn’t oogle him or stare, I totally wasn’t use to that! She kept her eyes away from him the entire time as he changed, granted he had undone the pants to retuck his shirt.

“Ok. I’m going to split before he wakes up.”

He gave me a quick kiss and blew kisses to them and then crept out.

“Why did he not want him awake?”

“Alexander tends to cry for daddy at times. He was whiney when he left this morning but I got him occupied, afraid if he wakes him up he won’t
let him leave without screaming which would wake her up.”

“Ah, makes sense then.”

“Was there anything else?”

“No. I asked if he could keep digging, he said he would. I did specify that he see if he can find out if David talked to Glen, based on what he said. David maybe gone but if he was talking beforehand then we know to look into his past and make sure there isn’t anyone else we need to worry about.”

“There better not be anyone else.”

She smiled. “The ad for Zac was taken down.”

I blinked. “The ad was still up?”

“Yes. Still having replies but he said the last five replies actually said it was impossible.”

“Glad he removed it then, were there other ads like that?”

“There was, he turned it over to the cyber division and they’re going to fully investigate.”

It got quiet in the room after that, it was disturbing to think that ad was still on the web years later. That people were actually commenting on the ad even now, but thankfully it was taken down!

“Did Christopher say when they’re getting access to the property beside you?” she asked.

“They will sign the papers on the property transferring legal ownership to them next week. Assuming there is no block the property and house will be there’s February 1st. They already have a construction company lined up and ready to demolish the house. They already have a house plan in mind as well, so they are moving quickly. There plan is to have the house built and ready before Jasmine turns a year old.”

“Why did they want to move anyway?”

“The house there in is on a busy street and they’ve watched Alexander and William run, there terrified she’ll run to the street and get hurt or worse. That’s what drew them to the property because it’s fenced in and has the huge back yard which they can put a fence around if needed.
Added, there close by us for help.”

“They lease their current place right?”

“Yes. Jason and Sophia are actually moving out this month, he found a house fairly close to Isaac in the gated community when they were out, they’ll close on the paperwork last day of the month, so there packing now. The other two are looking mid-year, Joshua found a plot of land they liked and they want to design their own house. George and Christina are doing the same thing. It’s going to be nice to be near everyone again.”

She smiled. “You really are the youngest, we just cater to you. You move half-way across the country and we all follow, you two should move to the Outback next!”

“I’d never get Zac to agree to that. He likes being there but home is Tulsa.”

She smiled. I was prepared when the wild one woke up, quick diaper change and he was off to ramble in everything. Isabella woke up acting like she was starving, so I settled back against the bed.

“You look so comfortable and at ease doing that. Was it weird with Alexander?”

“Breastfeeding them?”

“Yeah, you’re the only person I know that has really.”

“Weird, no. It’s never been weird. They both latched well and have done good. The hardest part was those first few weeks with them because they don’t recommend pumping, so I’m up every hour and a half. It can mean being sleep deprived, which Zac was really worried about. I was only going to do six weeks with Alexander and then switch to bottles, but I just couldn’t. The breast milk is way better and the benefits outweighed my desire for simple. Added, pumping helped. It also makes me sit down and rest.

“How does it do that?”

“When there nursing I can’t do anything else. I have to stop, sit down, and let them nurse. I think it helped me recover from both pregnancies faster and better. Natalie and Nikki complained a lot, but I never had those issues.”

She smiled. “I’ve really never been around babies, so there new and lord did I pick a time when everyone is having them.”

“Watch out for baby fever.”

“No problem, I want to be a nun for a while. Kind of focus on me.”

“See, I started with that and then went insane.”

“Well, experience wise you do have me beat with those threesomes.”

I giggled. “I have most everyone beat and I’ve also been part of a four way, but it wasn’t like all at once.”

“I counted that as a threesome, because they and you weren’t together at the same times. Is she almost done?”

“She will be in a bit, I was thinking about taking them to his solo show, but I don’t know. Either there or the beach.”

She tilted her head some and smiled. “If you want to take them to the show we can both take them. He won’t come to me that well but she seems to adore me.”

“He has gotten better. You wouldn’t mind?”

“No. I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never seen them perform live, I’ve looked up the songs but never heard them live.”

“Oh well, in that case can you find Alexander a clean suit and if he will let you, change him. If not just have it ready. Isabella too.”

She got up and picked out suits for them, Alexander let her undress him but that was it.

“Watch him, he will take the diaper off.”

She laughed but did watch, once Isabella was done nursing I let Eliza take her and Alexander came to me fine. Zac went on in thirty minutes so I should have time to get there.

“Stroller or carrying?”

“Stroller to there and in case they get tired.”

She set it up and got the diaper bags ready and even got Isabella locked in the back part, Alexander was a little harder but all it took was asking if he wanted to watch Daddy. That got him to get into his seat and let me buckle him in, the diaper bag went in the back. She pushed the stroller and I took up the side area, wondering through fans was a guarantee that someone would get pictures. Isabella was cooing with her toy and Alexander was pointing out things, trucks was his current obsession. I was a few minutes late getting to the show and I picked a spot where Alexander could see the stage.

“Dada!” he said

“Yes, Dada is performing right now without Uncle Tay and Uncle Ike.”

He smiled and I adjusted him so he could sit there and watch but be comfortable. He even had his cup. Eliza got Isabella out and sat down and she seemed entranced by the playing. I knew Zac saw us because he smiled at me, my own little smile.

“He’s really quiet.” Eliza said.

“Daddy…sure fire way to keep him calm. It’s rare he gets to see them play because the venues are so loud. But here, being outside it’s not so loud.”

Alexander and Isabella both were quiet for his entire set, neither made a peep and Alexander only whined when he stepped off stage, then I assured him Daddy was coming to us. We didn’t move, Zac would come to me and he did about thirty minutes after the set.

“I didn’t expect you to bring them.”

“I wouldn’t have if she hadn’t wanted to, too many little feet. But, she wanted to see you perform too, so we did.”

“Dada!”

Zac unbuckled him and picked him up. “Hey little man. Did you enjoy the show?”

He got a smile and a hug. “Clearly they both did, considering neither made a peep the entire show.”

We sat here despite the few fans that followed him or approached, most of them were tolerable and nice. It was a more exclusive events and less people. Most were respectful when I told them not to take a picture of them, Zac only had to tell one girl not too and when she still tried he got in her way. Evidently his facial expression alone was enough for her to take the hint, she had him autograph her ticket and then left.

“Do you ever get tired of being some bad ass?” Eliza asked.

“Not when it comes to Emily or them. I’ll be Mr. Badass all the time.”

We had dinner while we were out and then went back to the hotel room. He didn’t seem to want to have many conversations with anyone, kind of seemed like he wanted downtime. Given all that had occurred, I couldn’t blame him.

“Are you sure you don’t want to be social? I don’t mind.” I said.

“No, I want some time alone with you and them without needing to fret over anything. I know we’re safe here and I know there are agents. I also feel glad that Eliza is beside us.”

“How are you feeling Zac? You haven’t said much concerning your feelings toward Ian and what happen. I know you’ve talked to Zander a few times.”

For several minutes he sat there without saying anything and then he turned to me some.

“I still feel bad at times for being responsible, but I know deep down that it was the right thing to do. We were fighting over the gun and at the time I thought I had nothing to lose. Zander helped there. I worry about you and what Glen wants. I worry about him coming after Alexander or Isabella with the intentions to replace one of us. It’s why I’d rather be here right now. I adore the fans, I know there the whole reason you and
I have the life we do, but I do so much on the fan club and when we are touring, that I just want some downtime.”

“So, Taylor said you weren’t going to Fool’s this year.”

“I’m not. I know I should but I can’t be that far away from you with Glen being the way he is. That is too far away.”

“What if I went with you? Eliza and I can take one of the houses with you and the boys.”

“You said you didn’t want to be there because it was a band related thing.”

“Yes, but it’s fools and you sho0uld be there. However, I do understand why you don’t want to leave us alone at home. If that what it takes for you to go, then we can work it out. I can keep them at the house and be fine. I mean, Kent’s wanted to see me for years.”

He laughed. “Kent wants a chance with you or a one night stand with you.”

“I could always see if Eliza is free for that, let him brag.”

“So evil of you. I wouldn’t do that though.”

I smiled at him. “Think about it at least?”

“I will. I’ll talk it over with Taylor and Isaac too. Because if you go, I am betting Nikki and Natalie will too.”

“Wouldn’t bother me, we can have girls days with the kids while you guys record.”

“Well, Alexander looks worn out so why don’t we get them bathed, changed, and in bed.”

“I’m tired too, she found some information about Glen though.”

I gave him the summarized version of what she told me and he absorbed it and considered it while we bathed, dressed, and I fed Isabella. Oddly, Alexander was asleep quickly. I guess the beach wears him out quickly.

“I don’t like the information and I think Glen is a psychopath like Adam and David. I’ll be glad when they find him.”

“I will be too.”

Once she was asleep and they were down, we made use of the hot tub, talking about what we wanted to do for the year and I brought up the idea of letting Sean take more responsibilities but he didn’t much like it. After a long bath we both snuggled up and went to sleep.
