Chapter 16 – Chaos
POV: Emily / Zac
Word Count: 4769

July 11, 2009; Saturday

-Emily-

It was after midnight when Zac and I actually went to bed, but it was my phone ringing at 3 am that woke us both up. Of course neither of us were content with being woken up that early, but while Zac was able to fall back asleep I laid there awake for several hours before drifting off but it was soft kissed that woke me up about seven.

“Good morning.”

“Morning.”

I turned some and kissed him back. I found I was right against him with his arms around me.

“Wanna know what sucks?” I asked.

He kissed my neck. “Besides you?”

“You know, I would totally get you for that if I could move.”

He kissed me again. “No, you won’t. What was your answer?”

“That I couldn’t brag to them, that I couldn’t tell them who was making me make all those noises I am sure they heard.”

“Why would they have heard you?”

“Because they were outside the door, I saw feet there once when I glanced.”

He ran his tongue up the side of my neck and I purred rather loudly.

“I love that sound, it is so hot and you don’t do it often.”

He placed more kisses to my neck.

“I was thinking after you fell asleep.” He said.

“About what?”

“Well, neither of us should have to lie when we tell someone we don’t want to do something. Likewise, we shouldn’t have to grit our teeth and not say something when something happens like when they stared at you or when those two refused to move. I think it is time the world knew about us and I don’t care what they think.”

I felt his hand slid down my side, over my hip, across the back of my leg before he pulled mine up over his hips.

“It is not just here either, it’s not just so we don’t have to pretend outside Tulsa. Honestly, that might have been a decision we made that was truly wrong.” He said

“I think it was right for that moment. We decided to wait because you had just got a divorce and we didn’t want the media to believe it was a sham or for you to seem like a prick.”

He giggled. “Nice choice of words.”

My own hands were trapped between us, may have been intentional but sex didn’t seem to be his objective because he wasn’t moving to more sensitive areas, his hand was just rubbing my leg and I had to admit it was quite nice. I didn’t mind this at all.

“So...does this mean I can tell them to get their hands off of you?”

“Only if I can too.”

I smiled. “I may go for Gabby first…”

“Please, do not embarrass me.”

“Why not? Baby, you are so adorable and cute and absolutely fucking hot when you blush.”

“Please?”

“You never let me have fun, I will try not to.”

“Did you ever go back to sleep?”

“About thirty minutes ago.”

“I’m sorry. I was rude and woke you up.”

“It’s ok. How about we get breakfast and then maybe the pool?”

“Pool sounds nice.”

He finally untangled us from the cover and each other. He put a different pair of swim trunks on, a grey pair and a grey shirt. I went with the solid blue suit.

“So mean.”

I picked up his button up shirt from the day before and slipped it on.

“What are you doing?”

“Covering up, I am inside.”

“In my shirt?”

I smiled and unlocked the door, pulled it open.

“No, honey. In the shirt you had on yesterday, the one everyone here saw you wearing.”

He couldn’t catch me before I was in the hallway headed to the kitchen, which is where he came shortly behind me with his hair pulled back.

“Morning!” Casey said.

“Do you live in the kitchen?” I asked.

“Sometimes.”

I found items for pancakes and eggs while he and Zac talked a bit.

“Do you want anything Casey?” I asked.

“Pancakes?” he asked.

“Sure thing.”

I started to measure and mix the pancake batter and get the pan hot and they sat down just behind me. I had seen Casey look at the shirt more than once.

“So, how was your night Zac?”

“It was fine.”

“So, did double trouble get you or was it more singular?”

I could almost see Zac’s confused face in my mind, even before he asked what he meant.

“He’s asking because of the marks on your neck, which you so elegantly flaunted when you pulled it back into a ponytail. It’s I believe one bite mark and two scratches.” I said.

“Ah, then it was singular.” Casey said.

I finished making pancakes and handed them plates, we sat down as David, Jacob, and Alex came in. They all fixed cereal and then sat down across from us.

“Nice shirt Emily.” Alex said.

I looked up. “Thank you.”

I saw him nudge David. “I told you.”

“Yeah, yeah. I guess I write the mushy song?”

“You told him what?” Zac asked.

Alex turned and looked right at Zac. “I told David you were fucking her. He said you weren’t, so we made a bet, if you were he has to write the mushy song ever. You have never let a woman simply sit in your lap like that. Not even your ex.”

Zac nearly choked on the mouthful of pancakes he had literally just shoved into his mouth. I looked at him; made sure he got them down and didn’t need CPR. He looked at me, rather stunned and that blush was already creeping in.

“Don’t look at me, I totally agree with Alex. Although, your choice of words was rather interesting.”

“But, it is true? The two of you have acted weird all week. We totally understand you wanted privacy and all.” David said.

“It’s true.” Zac said.

“Don’t you work for them? I’ve seen your picture on the website.” Jacob asked.

“I do.”

I cut my pancake up and put a little syrup on each piece, meanwhile Casey and Zac’s were practically floating in syrup.

“That has got to be interesting, being under him all the time, at work, at home, in bed.” David said.

I looked up and I felt Zac’s hand on my leg.

“Who said I was always under him? He’s my boss at work, outside the studio it just really depends.”

I saw Zac’s head drop and he focused on the plate and the pancakes.

“Is he always this shy about sex? He flatly refused to speak of his sex life to anyone, for anything. We figured, at least after the divorce he would experiment or maybe try something new, but no. He flatly refused to talk about sex and all aspects.” Casey said.

I looked across Zac to Casey. “He said no because he already had a bed to come too. He didn’t need to try anything new.”

“Wait, how long have you two been together?” Alex asked.

“Over two years.” Zac said.

Not even I expected him to answer that completely honestly and I saw the shock in their faces.

“Ok, well that didn’t answer my question. Is he always this shy about sex?” Casey asked.

“Well, he’s been shy about sex since before he was with Kate. He was fourteen when I met him and while Taylor and Isaac would talk about it all the damn time Zac here, would turn beet red and leave.” Alex said.

I glanced at Zac, steadily eating pancakes and his face was flushed a bright red now. He had let his hair down though to cover the marks and some of it was over his face.

“Yes, he is shy when it comes to sex.”

They all looked at me, made me a little uncomfortable.

“But not in the bed, huh?” Jacob asked.

I smiled. “He is anything but shy when the doors close.”

Zac chocked again on yet another mouthful of pancake pieces.

“Baby, you might want to reduce the number of pieces you are trying to shove in your mouth and swallow.”

Casey’s eyes went wide and Zac looked at me with his best evil look, which was not very evil.

“That look is adorable.” Casey said.

“Two years?” Alex asked.

Zac finished his pancakes and looked at Alex. “It was two years in March.”

“But you’ve only been…”

“I’ve only been divorced from Kate a little over a year. Yeah, you’re not confused there Alex. I was with Emily before I filed, but to be perfectly fair she cheated on me the whole marriage and even before we got married. However, I can’t say details beyond that.”

“I thought Isaac was the secretive Hanson, boy was I wrong.” David said.

I giggled. “Isaac has nothing on Zac; trust me I know most of his secrets, including his obsessions, fantasies, desire, and dreams.”

“Oh, fantasies and desires sound like fun.” Casey said.

“Likewise, I know all of hers.” Zac said.

Yeah, that was my signal to not say anything else. They were all done eating so I got up and got the plates and they started leaving, knowing there wouldn’t be anything else discussed. I was washing the few plates when I felt him behind me.

“So, evil…” he whispered.

I put the plate in the strainer and shook my head.

“I was very good. I could have actually told them about your drumstick obsession, which would have been evil.”

“Very true.”

He helped me finish the few plates and bowls and then we went outside. It was still rather early so we mingled a bit, it was nice without Kent, Gabby, or Julie as they were all still inside somewhere.  I sat by the pool about 10:30 to test the water, I had left the over shirt with Zac who was lying on the lounge chair at the end of the pool, said he needed sun but he still had everything on. When Kent did come outside he came right to me, plopped down beside me.

“You like blue apparently.”

“Why would you say that?”

“You suits are blue; most of your cloths have shades of blue somewhere.”

“One of my favorite colors.”

“Pink is mine.”

“Uh, little girly of a color isn’t it?”

“It’s very girly.”

His hand started to come toward me and I stopped him, shook my head. But, he was persistent, even after I told him no. Which, apparently Zac heard because moments later he was kneeling down between us.

“She’s asked you to stop; there is a reason why she’s telling you she’s not going to be coming to your room.” Zac said.

“According to Julie she’s a virgin that is waiting on you, really, she’ll be waiting a long time.”

Zac snorted some. “She hasn’t been a virgin since she met me Kent; I’m telling you nicely to leave her the hell alone.”

I felt the blush, had he seriously just said that? I didn’t care about the second half but when did Zac just drop bombs like that? That was my job! I saw Casey and a few others turn as well, the meaning was very clear they all thought he was some prude and here he is telling Kent he’d pretty much taken my virginity from me, not untrue but still.

“Why do you care Zac? You’re the prude here and she’s nothing to you.”

Zac leaned a little closer. “She’s my girlfriend Kenneth; she has been for two years. I understand you didn’t know that and we chose to keep our relationship more private. But, you know now, so back off. You know exactly how my temper is and you really don’t want to keep pushing it.”

He held his hands up. “I didn’t know, I image no one here does.”

“I understand that but we’ve agreed to go public now. I’m sure Julie and Gabby would appreciate your attention.”

He started to move and then looked back at us. “You weren’t alone Monday were you?”

“No, she wasn’t alone.” Zac said.

Kent moved away and Zac kissed my forehead before going to the longue chair again, I think he enjoyed that much more than I did. I saw Julie when she came out and soon after Gabby, they spotted Zac I was sure but they were standing beside the door. I could see his name on their lips and Gabby mentioned lap. I got up and walked to him, picked up the shirt and put it on. He looked up at me and I smiled. He glanced to the door and then me.

“Go ahead.”

Taylor and Isaac both smiled when I straddled him and the chair and sat down on his thighs. My feet were on the ground still.

“Comfortable?” I asked.

“Not really, that rather hurts.”

“I can slide up…”

A blush crept across his face. “As much as I may regret that, go ahead. The edge of the chair is digging into my thigh.”

I slid up, perfect position if we weren’t dressed. “Better?”

“Yes.”

“So, everyone is now pretty much staring at us.”

“Please, don’t do anything.”

“I could pretend we’re all alone out here.”

“NO!”

“You never let me have fun. How come you still have your shirt on?”

“I don’t want to take it off.”

I crept my hands under the edge of the shirt, could feel the soft skin under my fingertips.

“Emily.”

“I happen to like your chest.”

“I left it on for a reason; you left marks all over my back.”

“Oh…”

Zac moved his hands from beside him to mid-thigh on me and I smiled.

“Being brave now.”

“Well, you’re sitting in my lap, this cannot be that bad.”

He was smiling at me as we sat there but his face changed when they walked up, he stopped smiling but his hands remained right where he had them.

“I could have sworn I told you Kent was far better.” Julie said.

“He’s not my type really. But, yeah, you did tell me that.”

“Zachary, what are you doing?” Gabby asked.

I thought that was a stupid question when it was very clear he was simply lying here, which is exactly what he told her. She seemed a little offended by his short answer, but I got up because while I was very comfortable sitting there I wanted to be facing them.

“You both need to stop and give up on him; he will not be sleeping with either of you.”

“How can you be so sure? Did you not read what his ex-wife wrote? He cheated on her with an employee, do you think for once second he would be faithful to you? For the record, he wasn’t.” Gabby said.

I smiled. “Oh, I know all about that and much more than you do about it. I am positive he won’t cheat on me, he knows exactly what would happen if he did. I also know that both of you are full of shit when you say you’ve had sex with him or watched, you haven’t even seen him naked, let along got that far.”

“You cannot know for sure.” Julie said.

I smiled. “I know.”

“HOW?” She yelled.

“She knows because of what you told her outside the bedroom last night.” Zac said.

“I told her to go to Kent’s room for her deflowering session.” Julie snapped.

“I am not a virgin Julie; I haven’t been for some time now. I only told you that to see what you’d tell me.”

I was aware of the other’s looking, especially Taylor and Isaac because they’d hit on them too before.

“We’ve both been there; Gabby and Zac had sex while I watched. It was in the orange room here, which was Gabby’s. I am sure Zac remembers it, he just doesn’t want to tell you.” Julie said.

Gabby went into rather explicit detail, which shocked quite a few of the people close by. I swore Casey and Alex’s jaws broke because they didn’t close apparently, Taylor and Isaac had this wild bug eyed look and they were looking at Zac, questioning him. I let her ramble on what he did how he touched her and made her feel good. But, I’d been having sex with him for two years now; nearly everything she said was complete bullshit. I knew every inch of his body very well, she didn’t.

When she was done she looked proud of herself really. I looked at Zac who looked somewhere between appalled and disgusted.

I took a step closer to them both. “I want to make this perfectly clear; I know he has not had sex with either of you because he would have told me if he had. He told me everything that happened the last time the three of you were here. I believe Zac and unless you can accurately tell me every single square inch of his body, which you cannot do, then I will not believe you. Therefore, you’re wasting your breathe.”

“I just told you everything.” Gabby said.

It was clear they were stubborn. “I’m his girlfriend and I have been for some time now. I have been polite about letting the two of you be so close to him and touching him all the fucking time. However, that is over. You pissed me off when you refused to move last night. He is not your boyfriend, he is not having sex with you nor has he ever. He is not available to either of you or any other fucking woman on this planet. Is that clear enough?”

“That is not true; I believe the assets speak for themselves.” Julie said.

“There is nothing you have that he wants Julie, I mean you tried by showing everyone your panties when you got here. Take your pick of anyone else that is here that is single, but I can guarantee you whose bed he will be in. It will not be yours.”

She huffed but finally walked away, went to Kent and pouted. Gabby however was persistent, she tried to move around me and I stopped her, it was high time they learn that it’s not OK to lay all over someone whose asked you not too.

“Gabby, don’t do this. I respect you as an artist and a musician, you have talent. But, he is not going to bed with you.” I said.

“Tell her Zachary!” She demanded.

“There is nothing to tell, I carried you to bed and I left you there alone.” Zac said.

I saw Casey walk up and stop beside her. “Gabs, I think you may need to back off. She does not seem like the meek type.”

“She is anything but meek.” Zac said.

“You should know honey.” I retorted.

His face blushed some at that. But, he kept quite.

She stood there a moment. “You know what, if he won’t admit we had sex, why should I? He can take his average little dick and go fuck you with it.”

I giggled. “I may actually take him up on that, I would certainly enjoy it.”

When she realized that statement didn’t piss me off, she turned and stormed off to be with Julie and Kent.

Casey looked at me and then Zac. “Considering neither he nor you look totally pissed off, I’m going to assume she was wrong.”

I started to speak but Zac put his hand over my mouth, kind of confused me actually.

“She was and that is all you need to know.” Zac said.

He leaned in and lowered his voice. “If she was wrong, you shouldn’t be shy about that Zachary.”

“I’m just saying that no one needs to know those details but me and Emily.”

He removed his hand and I turned to fuss at him for the hand over my mouth, but did not expect the kiss. He rarely did that at all in public.

“I can still surprise you.” He said.

“Yes, you can.” I said.

Everyone settled after that, he and I went inside for lunch about 12:30, just quick sandwiches and chips. But, I kept yawning.

“Baby, if you’re tired why don’t you go lay down?”

“Because I won’t sleep tonight?”

“Who said you were anyway?” He gave me a big smile.

“Really Zac? What have I done to you? What started at once a month, how did that become four or five times a week?”

“It’s your fault. You got me addicted to you.”

I smiled. “That is true. If I’m not sleeping tonight I think I will lie down.”

He walked me to the room when we were done, I left the suit on because it was clean and dry, but I did put his shirt on before I lay down. He covered me up with a throw and kissed my forehead, he was about to lean up when my phone rang and he glanced over.

“You know, I’m leaving mine with you and taking yours. This way you can sleep.”

I smiled and let him, I didn’t want to hear it ring anyway. He laid his phone down and kissed me again.

“Call or text if you need me, I’ll be right outside with them. I’m leaving the door unlocked just in case I need to get inside quickly or you need to get out.”

I smiled. “Ok. Wake me up at 5; don’t let me sleep past that.”

“I will. Nap well.”

He made sure I was comfortable and then left, leaving his phone beside me on the bed and taking mine. I laid there for a few moments before letting sleep take over.

-Zac-

I rejoined the group after leaving Emily to nap. A few hours passed and people were moving around and some were getting lunch and others were swimming and breaking, I was sitting with Taylor and Isaac talking about the new album when Casey leaned down next to my head, kind of scared me.

“Isn’t Emily asleep in your room?”

“Yes.”

“I saw Paul go into the room about three minutes ago. He didn’t see me standing in the kitchen. I think you need to go check on her because I am sure she didn’t let him in.”

Isaac stopped mid-sentence and when I got up they did too. We all pretty much ran inside. I went to turn the knob and it was locked, she would have sent me a message to say it was locked. I tried my key and when that didn’t work I just stepped back and rammed it with my shoulder, I heard wood splinter as the door gave way under my weight.

I immediately looked at the bed to see if Emily was there, but that didn’t help the situation. Paul was standing on her side and his hand was on her upper thigh. Emily raised her head and looked quite startled, meaning I had woke her up. Emily moved about as quickly as I did, she went to Taylor and kind of hide with them while I went after Paul.

I had him pinned to the wall within moments, could tell whatever he was thinking had turned him on, which didn’t settle well with me at all considering her past experience with being woken up that way.

“What the fuck are you doing in here?” I demanded.

“I came to see if she was ok.”

“She was fine, why were you touching her?”

“Making sure she was ok, Zac calm down.”

I glanced at Emily; she was literally hiding behind Taylor and Isaac.

“Emily?”  I asked.

She didn’t reply but Isaac looked at me. “Her suit was untied Zac, I noticed when she stopped beside Taylor, the blanket covered her but I could see the ties.”

“I did too.” Casey said.

I knew her suit wouldn’t come untied without help which meant he did that first. I was going to walk away really, because Emily needed me more at the moment. I wasn’t that far away and I was sure that no one else heard him, but he said something about another fifteen minutes and I would have been too late. I didn’t like what he implied his intent was and seeing her standing behind Taylor and that look on her face, I couldn’t just walk away.

The first punch landed on his right side, he looked shocked at me. But, beyond that I am not sure exactly how many punches connected to his face or side, but it was Taylor and Isaac that pulled me away from him after some time.

“Stay away from her!” I screamed. I shrugged Taylor and Isaac off and turned, Emily wasn’t there.

“Where is she?”

“Casey took her to our room when you snapped.” Taylor said.

I realized when I came out of the room that most everyone was standing in the hall or very close by. I ignored them all and went across the house to Taylor and Isaac’s room. Emily was sitting on the bed curled up and Casey was sitting a safe distance away from her. She looked at me when I came in.

I went to her and just pulled her to me. “I should have stayed with you.”

I felt her arms tighten around me. “No, you were here to write and not sit in a room with me. Although, perhaps locking the door was warranted. I just didn’t think anyone would be that stupid.”

I tightened my hug some and held her there for several moments. “Thanks Casey, it’s probably not something she needed to see.”

He smiled. “Well, she’s the one that cringed and I knew that Taylor and Isaac would need to stop you and you wouldn’t trust her with anyone else but me and maybe Alex.”

“Alex would have been ok, he’s fully aware of what I can do.”

She pulled back from me and I kissed her forehead. “Go wash up Zac; you have blood on your hands and face. Did he actually get a hit in?”

“He got me in the side once, but that was it.”

She raised the edge of the shirt to check, satisfied I was ok she sent me to wash up, which I did. After that we returned to the living where everyone was sitting, including Paul. Carrick looked furious but he was yelling at Paul about respecting women and the fact he knew we were together.

Paul looked quite bad on his own, his lip was busted for sure, he was dabbing it with a wet rag. His nose looked a little odd to me, possibly broken and his left eyes was swollen. He was also favoring his right side for some reason. Carrick finally stopped yelling at him and looked at us.

“Emily and Zac, are you both ok?”

“Yes.” She said.

“I’m fine.” I replied.

He nodded at us and then addressed everyone else about the incident. He basically stated he didn’t condone or tolerate such behavior and that if anyone else felt the need to do something like that, they needed to leave. He informed the room that we were a couple and that he expected as adults that we’d respect that. I got the feeling Gabby and Julie were his targets there, but he did apply it to the entire room. They didn’t seem to care. Kent offered to take Paul to the hospital, because of the way his nose was and his side, he agreed and the girls went with them both.

The first thing she and I did was change cloths. I checked the door after that, grateful that it was just the trim that I had heard when the inner bolt pulled loose.  I went ahead and fixed that, puttied the broken sections and would paint it the next day; I then re-attached the lock a little higher up. I filled out the incident report explaining why it was broken and fixed.

We then fixed dinner; Isaac was leaving early the next morning to return home so we sat down and talked about the album a bit, Emily sat with us and even imputed ideas. About ten she and I went to the bedroom to go to bed, I didn’t think she’d want to do anything beyond sleep. Yet, she came onto me the moment the door was locked. I questioned it at first but then gave up, if she was content to keep me up all night, then I was perfectly fine with that.
