Chapter 45 – Epcot Roller Coaster’s
POV:  Emily / Zac (Varies)
Word count: 5099

November 4, 2013 - Emily

They had shows this afternoon but the morning hours were ours and we were going to make the best of them. Because we had so many children in the family today was family day, which worked out because these rides I could ride and enjoy with Alexander. It allowed us to spend time with everyone that came which was his family, Casey, Robert, my dads, and the back-up crew which had their wives and kids as well. Casey and Robert were hanging out with us where as everyone else pretty much split up and went their own ways with agreements to be on time for the show. We started with the animal kingdom because really it was safe for most the kids and I could ride more here; it was going to be hard to really explain why I can’t go on some but can other’s, but having Alexander with us was a prime excuse for those that he couldn’t ride either. He loved the animals and I was glad Zac was here this time to witness just how much he does. The tigers captured his attention and he was just so damn happy. I was kneeling behind him again, letting him watch though the bars as the very large tiger that was laying there.

“Emily, are we ever going to get away?”

“Maybe months from now, I’m not sure.”

He smiled and sat down on the ground beside me. “Alexander, buddy I know you love the tigers but there is a whole park full of animals.”

He smiled and pointed to the tigers, babbled non-stop for ten full minutes and Zac just smiled and nodded, agreed with him. He finally moved over and sat down in his lap.

Casey and Robert groaned behind us. “I hate to say it Emily but you may just have to walk away.”

I got up. “I broke his heart last time, Daddy can this time.”

Yet, when Zac got up and picked him up he was fine, didn’t cry a drop and waved bye to the tigers.

We explored for most of the morning, visiting other animals, but the tiger’s clearly was his go to thrill, we had lunch about 12 and I nursed him there.

“What about his naptime?” Casey asked.

“If I can get him to sleep we can use the stroller, if not then I hope he doesn’t freak out this afternoon since Zac will be performing.”

Zac smiled and once he was done he took him, it was clear he was getting tired already, we’d been out all morning but once we left he really didn’t nap, there was just too much noise and too much going on around him. By 3pm he was getting cranky and whiney so we headed back to the hotel, Casey and Robert however were free to explore more and did.

“He’s going to be ill, are you sure you can handle him alone?”

“Yes, in fact I may see if he will nap a little bit, if not then don’t expect us to be awake when you get back.”

At the hotel he was kind of ok, he played with the toys we brought but when Zac left to go to get ready for the show he pitched a complete fit. He wanted to go with him and I couldn’t allow him to. I rocked and bounced and just when I thought I might be too far out there to really be able to calm him down, Casey and Robert came in.

“Ut oh, who pissed him off?”

“He didn’t nap and when Zac left an hour ago he started screaming for him the minute he realized he was gone.”

“Let him cry it out Emily, he needs to get use to that because sometimes he can’t go.”

“I want to hear you say those words when you have kids.”

Robert seemed to pause at the door looking quite mortified, but who cares, Casey couldn’t understand how much it hurt me to hear him wanting Zac and not being able to take him.

“Why not take him to the show?” Robert asked.

“I don’t need him running on stage here! Besides, he’ll calm down eventually.”

Robert sat down beside me and while Alexander went to him, when he realized it wasn’t Daddy he came right back to me. I knew this was just another meltdown and I should expect it because he didn’t nap and he hadn’t slept much the night before either, so I got up and stepped to the balcony, sat down in the rocking chair. He acted like he wanted to nurse so, I let him. If it calmed him down then I’d do whatever it took. That seemed to work very well, I held him close to me and gently patted his butt while he nursed and eventually fell asleep. Hopefully a nap this late wouldn’t hurt. I got to see the great expanse of Disney and Epcot, this place was huge. Casey eventually stepped out and sat down.

“You know Zac will have a conniption fit if he knew you were out here.”

I looked over at him. “We’re on the top floor of the hotel, surely he can’t see me. Besides we don’t even know if he is here.”

“He is.”

He didn’t appear to be lying or bluffing, it was as if he knew. I tilted my head to the side and gave him a puzzled look.

“Why do you say that like you know for sure?”

“I do know for sure, he can’t reach you or Zac but he can me. I got several messages this morning while we were out, pictures of you and Alexander and Zac, he’s at the show Emily.”

“Are you sure it’s him?”

“Yes. Zac told me about the symbol on them all, we got that information when you had the meeting on the bus. There not close ups, but there close enough.”

“I haven’t seen him and neither has Zac.”

“Doesn’t mean he’s not watching Emily, come on you know how this works. Adam and David pulled the same shit with you.”

“Well, Alexander won’t be with us tomorrow so, he’ll be safe here. The last day we’re with just about everybody so he should be fine. Why would he send them to you?”

He smiled. “Because I’m always around you and Zac because he knows about us.”

“Well, don’t piss him off please.”

“I haven’t replied to any of them and I did contact Agent Marshall with the information.”

I looked across the vast expanse again, any given day there were thousands of people here, it was very easy to get lost. I’d have to make sure he was safe Wednesday when we were all exploring. Alexander did wake up after an hour and he spent several hours playing with us in the room, before we ordered room service and he laid down with me about 9:30, but he was still awake when Zac returned from the shows.

“I didn’t think you’d be awake.”

“Oh, I wouldn’t have but he melted down when you left. Screamed at the door for ten minutes and eventually nursed and napped. He didn’t sleep long though.”

“Where are Casey and Robert?”

“When I laid down they went to their room, but Casey got messages today from Ian. Pictures of us.”

He picked Alexander up and hugged him. “He’ll be fine Emily, we all will be. There are too many people here watching and being around us for him to try anything.”

“I hope your right. Your mom said to drop him off about 8 to leave enough milk and diapers for the day, she told me to go watch the show.”

He smiled. “Come on you miss watching them all the time.”

“I do.”

He showered and since Alexander was not letting him out of his sight he was forced to leave the bathroom door open, Alexander didn’t need another bath. He then lay down, Alexander laid between us for about fifteen minutes playing and babbling before he drifted off. Sometime after that, Zac and I went to sleep too.

November 5, 2013; Tuesday (Zac)

We got up kind of early; got Alexander fed and dressed for the day. I chose shorts and an onesie because Florida was warm, Emily made sure to include milk for his noon and dinner feeding and his sippy cup with a few different juices. My mother was great with the kids and we never worried about him being in her care.

I opted for black shorts and a white A-shirt with a blue and white stripped button up, while Emily opted with blue jeans shorts and a yellow shirt.

“Least I’ll be able to see you.”

She giggled. “Of course.”

We dropped Alexander off at 7:55, he whined a few minutes when I started to leave but Dad picked him up and spun him around and he all but forgot I was leaving, we did tell them if he got too bad to just call. We met Casey and Robert in the hotel restaurant for breakfast and plans, Casey was naming a lot of thrill rides which Emily couldn’t get on at all. But, thankfully Robert was suggesting shows as well. We set out just after 9 and with jump passes we were able to miss the longer lines. A few of the rides Emily could get on but the tilt a whirl type rides she looked really green when she got off, which was a great excuse for her to miss the next roller coaster ride. She did walk with us but claimed her stomach was still flipping when we reached the front so she walked through and waited at the exit. Pretty sure I was green after that one myself.

We stopped for lunch about 11:45, Robert was complaining and Emily was too. We sat there for a little bit out of the sun and heat, just cooling off and Emily ordered more than I thought she could possibly hold but finished it. Casey and Robert both were a little stunned as well. We left there and caught a show and then Casey dragged us to a coaster, even the pass line was kind of long for the musical themed coaster. I saw the sign at the entrance a big circle with a cross over a pregnant lady; she’d have to step through. The first 15 minutes of our wait Robert talked about how he loved this one and then Casey looked at us.

“Are you riding this one.”

Emily smiled at him but didn’t say anything and several minutes passed as we moved forward.

“Have you ridden an indoor coaster?” Robert asked.

“I have in Texas, thanks to these two. It was ok.”

“You’ll love this one then, it has music and the coaster.”

Again she smiled, but didn’t comment that she would be or not. We moved forward a few more feet and instead of being sideways I turned facing then, Emily got in front of me.

“You haven’t commented, surely you are riding this. I mean I understand the first one you were still a bit green from that other ride.” Casey said.

“I probably won’t Casey.”

“You shove me out of a plane and now you won’t ride a coaster? Come on Emily.”

They bantered back and forth, clear she was getting annoyed with him asking or at this point flat out begging. We moved forward again and were close to riding when he flat out told her she was and he didn’t care.

I put my arms around her, settled my hands over her abdomen lightly, a lot of people around us just smiled and some pointed and I heard someone say how cute that was.

“She can’t ride Casey.”

“Yes she can.”

I gently rubbed her abdomen, trying to get him to understand without my needing to blurt it out, Emily just kind of smiled and let me. People didn’t seem to get it, continued to say how cute it was.

“She can’t.”

For a moment Robert looked at me and where my hands were and he seemed to understand then why she couldn’t, he kind of smiled and nodded.

“It’s cool, she doesn’t have to ride Casey, and maybe she doesn’t feel like it.”

“Not you too! Good lord. I know you’re afraid of coasters Ems, but come on you rode them in Texas and even without the extra motivation I am sure you’ll be fine.”

We moved forward another ten or so steps and Robert leaned in and whispered something to him, he looked at him a moment before looking back at us and how I was still holding on to her.

“You’re…” He trailed off when he realized there were so many people around and some of them were fans as well, we didn’t need rumors now, so he dropped the subject until we were inside the building and he was beside us, I would be riding alone.

“You can’t ride because you’re pregnant?” He asked.

“Yes. We found out the 1st and you can’t tell anyone. We want to make sure we’re past the 12 week marker and we’re not. So shush your mouth. Jesus you’re persistent.” Emily whispered.

“Is that why you didn’t ride much yesterday?”

She nodded. “I couldn’t. I wasn’t even supposed to go on the safari but I wasn’t missing that.”

He giggled. “I won’t say anything; does anyone else know at all?”

We shook our heads. “Just the four of us know and we’d like to keep it that way for now.”

He nodded, she stepped through when it was our turn and was waiting at the exit on us to join her.

“Was it fun? I think I heard you screaming Casey.”

“Haha, funny.” He said.

She smiled and we went to the next ride, although Casey did then try to amend his plan to include things she could do.

“Are you babysitting me when he plays?” She asked.

“Duh.” Robert said.

“Well, you’re free to do whatever, I was meaning Casey.”

He looked at me and smiled. “I doubt Zac would mind if I helped him watch you. You basically just like stand over her and make sure no one even breathes in her direction, right?”

I laughed and so did Emily. “Pretty much, yeah.”

“I can do that, no problem.”

I had to leave them about 4, she was with Casey and Robert, so she should be safe. I called Mom and checked on Alexander, who I could hear playing in the background with Zoe and Avery.

“Alexander is fine, he had a very good nap and he’s been calm all day. He got a little fussy early when he did realize you both were gone but then we distracted and he’s been fine.”

“Thank you for watching him today, it was nice to spend some time not worrying about him.”

“Don’t start now, we got dinner ordered and since you guys will be late if you just want to drop us off some extra diapers and milk then we can keep him tonight.”

“Are you sure? You can send Zoe down to the room to get it. I think Emily left an extra key for you.”

“She did, but we didn’t know if you’d be ok with that.”

“That’s fine, she has a few pouches in the fridge there it’s labeled and he should have extra clothes in his diaper bag but diapers and wipes are on the bed.”

“Ok. I’ll send her down with your father after dinner. We’ll have him ready in the morning for you. If we need anything else we’ll call her.”

“Ok. Love you Mom. Thank you.”

“Love you too son, enjoy your show.”

I hung-up sent her a quick message and got an evil grin in return and sighed.

“What is it?” Ike asked.

“Mom and Dad offered to keep Alexander, so I sent Emily a message got an evil grin in response.”

“This means you’re not sleeping tonight, so good luck.” Taylor said as he slapped my shoulder.

“She might let me sleep!”

They both laughed but Taylor spoke. “Doubtful, but hey least you’re not on the bus or the studio.”

“That is true.”

We went on at 5:30 and I could only hope she was safe in the crowd somewhere…

-Emily-

We stayed for the first show and then for the second one we got dinner nearby. Casey didn’t get anything until then and it was a picture of us from earlier that day when his arms were around me. He handed me his phone as he was stuffing his face.

Such a tender and sweet moment, although I am curious about her not riding anything today but I am sure you won’t tell me one way or the other. Are you even telling them about my messages Casey?

Yes, he is. He is telling me, Emily. Although, you are wasting your time because Casey will not respond to you, the FBI has gotten the messages so it won’t be long before they find you.

I slid the phone back to him. “Be sure to let Agent Marshall know. They still haven’t reassigned our case to anyone else yet. It’s unclear on whether Ian watched him his entire career or if he just started and browsed pictures.”

“Well, the ones of you and him are obviously more new right?” Robert asked.

“Yeah. For sure he’s been watching since 2010, maybe 2011.”

“That long?” He asked.

I finished my fries and looked at him. “My primary stalker, Paul, watched me from the time I was 16 until he died. It’s not unusual; I didn’t even know he was watching me until before our wedding.”

He frowned and shook his head. “Jackasses, Casey told me a little about what happen with them. I am sure he knows more and the more aspect is stuff you guys requested he not tell.”

I looked at Casey sharply and he held his hands up. “Come on Ems, he needed to know given he’s around me and you guys more.”

“Oh…he wasn’t supposed to tell me anything?” Robert asked.

“It depends on what he said, but knowing how much he hates paddles, I image it’s nothing too major.”

“I think I got a very condensed version. Basically someone watched, they ended up taking you and there dead now.”

I smiled. “Bout sums it up.”

We continued to eat and I had just finished when a man approached, I knew it was a man without looking because both Robert and Casey were suddenly alert and watching, mostly because he’d stepped beside me with a box.

“Emily Hanson right?”

“Yeah, who are you?”

“I was asked to give this to you.”

He sat the box down, bowed which was weird and then turned and walked off. I looked at the box, it was long and narrow, and clearly a box made for flowers.

“Is it from Zac?” Casey asked.

“No. He would get something like this but he would have given it to me in person or have one of you do it.”

I carefully broke the seal and opened it, in the center was a snow globe and it was a very familiar one to me, had a push button on it and the scene inside was custom made, roses and flowers. I sat and stared at it, the snow globe was surrounded by black and red roses.

“Emily?” Casey asked.

I closed the lid and forced a smile. “I think I should get back to the venue, they should be about done.”

Casey frowned slightly but they finished up and followed me back, I knew they were off stage when I didn’t hear anything so I used my passes and got back, they were eating and Zac apparently just knew because by the time I made it to the table he was standing and ready.

“Hey, what’s wrong?”

“She got this as we were eating.”

He couldn’t view it for me, the familiar safety. But I figured that Robert or Casey one showed it to him, I didn’t want to see it anyway.

“Do you not like snow globes?” Robert asked.

“No, she doesn’t. Why don’t you just sit with us?”

I was content for that, sat there beside him almost as bad as Alexander. Robert and Casey sat too but the box was put elsewhere. They talked about the last set before heading back out and I sat back stage and watched. By the time they were done and we were back at the hotel the box was forgotten, watching him perform was always a highly arousing thing just the way he moved and how passionate he was. He may have thought I’d be different but I had him pinned the wall the minute the door was shut.

The snow globe was forgotten and a text from Zoe said Alexander was asleep; she’d even included a picture. We didn’t even get the message until after midnight, so he didn’t reply. I could enjoy this pregnancy but I did hope the hormonal side calmed, because surely Zac couldn’t keep up that long without me running him into the ground.

November 6, 2013; Wednesday (Zac)

We had gotten up about 7:45 and by 9 we were all having breakfast downstairs at the restaurant and making plans. Casey was deciding out route for the day and since we had Alexander it meant more kid friendly things. Our planning was mostly so that we were near restaurants when the kids wanted food because grouchy kids were not good. We split up and for the morning we were all together, the whole family which gave me someone to ride with because Zoe or one of the other family members would ride with me. It also gave someone to stand with her and Alexander, because Natalie couldn’t ride anything either. We sat down for lunch at 11:50, the younger ones were getting tired and cranky, and so they were fed, I took Alexander after he’d nursed because he was napping today, holding him in a laying down position and when he stopped fighting me which Casey said was so mean, he finally went to sleep. I gave him some time to get really asleep before I laid him down in his stroller and laid a blanket over him. Since we weren’t moving I put my foot on the front and gently rocked the stroller. We got up about 1:30, my parents and sisters went one way with Taylor’s 3 and he and Natalie went back to the hotel, she wasn’t feeling well and really she was too far along to be doing a lot of walking.

We hit up a few rides and we were on our way to another section of the park for something different, neither Ike nor myself had a lot of time left before the next three shows. Emily and Nikki were talking about the Safari ride and how the kids loved it. Everett and Monroe both just took off from us and Isaac called but when they didn’t stop he and I took off after them, I also saw Nikki briefly. I got Monroe about the time Isaac got Everett and I handed him over to his mama, because it was their place I just helped catch them. I figured the others would come to us so I stood and waited a moment, listening to Nikki lay into them both about running off like that. When she said they were done for the day and going back to the hotel both started saying no and crying, but Nikki was a tough mom and apparently this wasn’t the first time they ran off so she and Isaac picked them up, crying and all.

“I’ll see you at the show Zac. Enjoy the next few hours.”

“See you then.”

I turned and Emily and Robert were still where they were before, so I headed back. It happened so fast that for a moment I was slightly confused, Emily was suddenly laying on the ground and some man was taking off with the stroller. Robert was with her but I took off after the stroller, I was sure she would be fine. I chased the elusive man past them and heard her calling my name, he turned a corner ahead of me and almost turned the stroller over and I lost sight of him for a minute, when I came around the corner Alexander’s stroller was laying turned over on the ground, but he wasn’t there.

“Alexander?” I screamed.

It obviously caught people’s attention, and I couldn’t see the man anywhere. It was like he vanished and he took my son with him. No! This couldn’t be happening! I kept screaming his name, hoping he would scream or cry or something to let me know where he was. I kept looking for the bastard that took him! Realization that he was now gone and the likeliness of us finding him now was very slim, Disney was fucking huge. The pain in my knees wasn’t near as bad as the ache in my chest, he was gone and if Ian had him, he wouldn’t give him back without me.

“Zachary!” Emily called.

I had his blanket and people were looking confused and unsure, I could see some park employees headed our way. I heard Emily’s voice which meant she was fine, that is until she realized he wasn’t here. I felt her hands on my shoulder and she leaned down.

“Baby, it’s ok.”

“No it’s not! He took him! He took him Emily!”

She kneeled and whipped my cheeks off, wiped the tears away but she didn’t look upset and that confused me, why the fuck was she so calm?!

“Calm down Zachary, it’s ok. Look at me, don’t look at them, look at me.”

I diverted my eyes away from the crowd of people; fans included and to her, felt her soft fingers brush across my cheeks again.

“Alexander wasn’t in the stroller Zac, it was empty. Casey took him to change his diaper and clothes right after he woke up, which was when Ike yelled for Monroe and Everett. He’s fine, he’s with Casey and Robert safe.”

“He’s ok?” I asked.

“Yes.”

I couldn’t describe the overwhelming relief of knowing he wasn’t in the stroller, but still what if he had been? She talked to the park employees and filed the report because they did try, either way. Casey and Robert came to us and sure enough Alexander was safe with them, happy as if nothing ever happened. Once the park employees left us alone I just couldn’t shake it.

“I think it’s time to go back, unless you just want to stay?” Emily asked.

“No, I want to go back to the hotel. It’s hot and I just…”

“It’s ok, I understand it was a big scare and I think its best right now anyway.”

I called a park employee and asked for a ride, which they agreed too. All of us returned to the hotel, it was close to time for me to leave for the shows and I sat on the bed when we got back. Emily sat him down and then moved right in front of me and lifted my head.

“He’s fine Zac. I know what you’re thinking, the what if’s and what would have happened, but he’s fine. It was scary and I understand.”

“I just…what if he was taken? Epcot is fucking huge Emily, we would have never figured out where he had gone. Why would Ian want Alexander?”

She kissed me. “Because he knows that you would come to him, it wasn’t Ian it was someone else. It’s probably someone he knows or hired or paid. We told the people here and there on alert. Added, come on you have three more shows and I’ll stay right here.”

“What about the tour Emily?”

She kissed my temple. “The tour kicks back up this weekend, we’ll make sure he’s safe and you. It might mean keeping him inside while we’re there and no walks, it’ll be way too dangerous. It’ll also be too cold for him. We’ll be with my brothers for William’s first birthday, so he’ll have some freedom. Once we’re home then we’re going to contact Agent Marshall and he’s going to do something to help.”

“I should call him and tell him about today.”

“Yes, you should, and then you’ll have to go.” She kissed my temple again.

I called Agent Marshall before leaving the hotel, I also called Nikki and asked her to come to the room and sit with Emily, she wasn’t upset per se, but I would feel better knowing it wasn’t just her and Alexander and it would give him someone to play with.

I was rattled when I met my brothers and explained to them what happened. So we had some new measures and I still was able to make it through the three times, when I got back both Emily and Alexander were asleep and my younger sister and mother were there.

“Nikki and Natalie left but said she was upset, we came over. She lay down with him and next thing we know there both asleep. I just didn’t feel like I needed to leave.” Mom said.

“Yeah, we had a pretty bad scare today. I wouldn’t have left but Epcot required three members of Hanson not just two. Did she actually eat dinner?”

“She did.”

“Ok. We’re going to head back. Keep an eye on her Zac.”

“I will, I plan to lay down and sleep as well. We’re here one more day before we fly up to Philly ourselves.”

“Are you doing anything tomorrow?”

“I’m not sure; I think we may visit the animal kingdom again. Alexander loved that but it depends on how we feel.”

She smiled. “Ok. Sleep well.”

They left the room and I showered and laid down with them, she woke up briefly long enough to know it was me and then she was out, I wasn’t sure what Ian was trying to pull but Agent Marshall said his wife was put in charge of our case and she was currently working to determine when Ian started watching and considering the new turn of events, exactly how dangerous he was. I could answer both, a long time and very. I finally fell asleep sometime after 10.
